Diablo Flooring,Inc : WHY we need to Buy Local & Shop Local : Pleasanton,CA : Danville,CA : Walnut Creek,CA

Shopping local and independent sounds nice, but we Americans like to save a buck. We like convenience. And, judging from the proliferation of big box chains, we like consistency.

So why go out of our way to ‘shop-local-first’? It goes like this : when you spend your dollars at an independent, local business, you keep more money in your hometown—supporting your community’s social services, schools, your public library and local non-profits. How so? Locally-owned businesses return about 80% of each dollar to their community. And each dollar spent at a local business will return up to five times that amount within your community through city taxes, employees’ wages, and purchases of materials, supplies and services at other independent businesses.

Chains and franchises, on the other hand, contribute roughly 40%, and as little as 20% of sales back to your community. And many big boxes, such as Walmart or Home Depot, are given tax-incentives by local governments—costing you far more than the discounted price you think you’re paying.

Diablo Flooring,Inc : California Classics Hardwood Flooring : Pleasanton,CA : Danville,CA : Walnut Creek,CA

California Classics hardwoods are prepared in the classics traditional American style, from uncompromising source wood selection to the final floor finish. They are painstakingly hand-crafted, one board at a time, by trained hardwood floor artisans, yet still priced affordably enough for those who appreciate fine quality.

While cheap hardwood flooring from discounters and home improvement stores can seem “good enough”, in reality cheap flooring is not a good value. Over time, you’ll probably regret a decision to scimp on something as important to your home as flooring is. It simply pays to invest in fine hardwoods.

California Classics Flooring.
True Hand-Scraping by Artisans.

Lots of hardwood flooring brands these days deceptively claim their products are “hand-scraped” when they’re actually scraped by lightly-trained workers using machines. A discerning consumer can easily tell the difference.

You’ve probably seen this “fake” look on mediocre reproduction furniture: the monotonous patterns and machine-made appearance of the scraping and grooves. It’s worse on a hardwood floor, where the broad expanse makes the repetition even more obvious, and over time, tiresome to the eye. What might be acceptable to you when you look at a few boards in a store might not be when it’s spread across your living room.

California Classics flooring artisans have been personally trained by a nationally-renowned hardwood flooring master to “read” each piece of wood, determining its one-of-a-kind personality, and then to choose the right tools and techniques to fully bring out this character. California Classics flooring craftsmen are highly skilled at adding natural-looking chatter marks, antique wear and tear, distressing, scraping, worm holes and more, in different areas of each board, without repetition of patterns, depths, etc.

There are no machines, no assembly lines, no large quantities being pushed through quickly to save time and money. Each flooring plank is individually inspected for its unique patterns, grain and colorations, and hand-carved and scraped to complement its beautiful marks of individuality. No two floor boards are the same!

When in a flooring store, please compare our true hand-scraped hardwood flooring to typical machine-scraped hardwood flooring. The difference is obvious!
