Brian installed our beautiful hardwood floors last October and we couldn't be happier.  We had 3 other contractors come out and give us bids.  Not only was his price one of the lowest, but I really felt the most comfortable with using him.  He was honest, dependable, and a straight shooter.  Some of the other people that came over kind of gave me the creeps and weren't very professional at all.
  After installation, Brian (the owner) came by to see the completed job.  The installation team was very knowledgeable about how to care for the floor, and what not do do (walk on it with stiletto heels), as well as what products to use and not to use.
 We are very satisfied with the quality installation and the attention to detail, as well as follow up and great communication throughout.  The job was finished earlier than promised.  I feel we made the right choice choosing Diablo Flooring.

What type of home do you live in?

The type of residence will significantly influence the flooring type and installation method you need. In a single-family home, the subfloor will dictate the type of floor you can install. In a condominium, your condo owner's agreement usually has rules regarding soundproofing which have to be considered. In a basement, an engineered floor will be your preferred option.

What kind of furniture is in the room, and what style of décor?

Is there already wood in the room? Are there a lot of furnishings, or just a few? What shades are they? In a new home, the ambiance you’re looking for will largely influence your choice of color, wood species, grade, finish, board width, and direction.

What rooms are you planning to floor?

Sketch out the rooms where you want to install your hardwood floor. Indicate the areas of the rooms and make note of stairways, closets, and any obstacles that will require special fitting. Find out what kind of subfloor you have and in what direction the joists run. Remember that engineered flooring is the best choice for basements.

How many people live in your home?

The more people there are, the greater the traffic and the more durable your finish needs to be. If you have young children or pets, choose a harder wood species and matte finishes to minimize the risk of dents and scratches.

What type of flooring is right for your room?

Shaw to Introduce "HGTV Home- Flooring by Shaw" Collection

 Shaw Industries and HGTV will launch an exclusive flooring line labeled "HGTV Home-Flooring by Shaw." The licensing partnership includes carpet, hardwood, laminate and area rugs. Additionally, the line will comprise green choices in each category including Shaw’s Anso® nylon and Epic® hardwood.

"This program grew out of the positive long-term relationship Shaw and HGTV enjoy and strengthens the connection between two powerful brands," said Shaw President Randy Merritt. Why Is Fabrica Carpet So Expensive?

Fabrica Carpet has a reputation for being the best in the business.  Fabrica is world renowned for its high end, luxury carpet.  If you must have the best, then you’ve really only got one choice in carpet.

But why is Fabrica so darn expensive?  Some of their carpet is upwards of $16.00 per square foot!  Not a cheap investment by any means.

Fabrica is expensive because generally their carpet is more time consuming to manufacture.  For instance, they create their wide variety of colors through a process known as Beck Dyeing.  Unlike other carpets that are dyed relatively quickly, color is applied to Fabrica Carpet through hours of deep dye immersion.  This process allows the colors to not only be richer, but more resistant to color fading. 

Beck Dyeing also assures that colors between dye lots are consistent.  Other dyeing processes can lead to something called dye lot variation.  A dye lot variation is when the carpet from one batch is off color by a noticeable amount.  Due to Fabrica’s intensive color dyeing process you don’t have to worry about this being an issue.  Fabrica is world famous for its extensive color palette.

Overall Fabrica’s manufacturing process is above the industry standard in virtually every way.  In addition to using premium fibers, the twist of their carpet is tighter, it is denser than normal carpet, and it includes a high quality synthetic, latex backing which resists stretching and wrinkling.  Properly installed Fabrica Carpet will not only last a long time but retain its vibrant colors much longer than normal run of the mill carpet will.

Fabrica’s formal plushes are in my opinion where the company really shines.  If you compare one of Fabrica’s plushes to a competitors product, the difference is immediately apparent.  Their plushes are very finely twisted and have a magnificently soft and smooth finish.  The finish on their carpet is so fine due to the multiple times the carpet is sheared.  This gives the carpet an elegant, smooth finish that in our opinion many other carpet manufacturer's plushes just can’t compete with.

Being an exclusive product, you can’t find Fabrica Carpet everywhere.  Fabrica isn’t something you’ll find on sale at a cheap outlet somewhere.  We recommend shopping at The Great Indoors as they offer a wide variety of Fabrica styles as well as experienced carpet salesmen.  You’ll also generally find that they tend to use higher quality installers.  It’s important that the carpet installers you choose are Fabrica certified as they will have been trained how to best lay seams and whatnot.

If you have your heart set on Fabrica, expect to pay anywhere from $8.00 to $13.00 and up per square foot.  Their nicer formal plushes generally run in the $13.00 per SQ/FT range.  Buying Fabrica Carpet is like purchasing a luxury car.  Is it absolutely necessary?  No, but owning Fabrica will add depth and a certain special something to your house that’s almost priceless.  Not to mention the bragging rights you’ll gain when neighbors come to visit.  It’s nice to be able to say that you own carpet that is in the White House.

Drying of the Wood:
The MIRAGE factory operates on site, all the kilns to dry the lumber to exacting standards necessary to produce their flooring, thus controls everything from log to finished product. Before it is made into flooring, every board is then tested for the correct moisture content! This avoids cracks showing up afterwards, when unusually wet boards decide to finish drying in your house. All warehouses and production facilities are humidity controled to maintain the correct moisture content in the flooring while waitng to be delivered to your job site.

Milling the perfect tongue & groove:

The strips are always manufactured perfectly straight, with a constant thickness and width offering you a perfect tongue and groove fit. These high manufacturing standards and quality control assure an easy and worry-free installation and you save on installation time. Wastage is virtually eliminated.

Sanding that brings out the beauty of the wood:

Just How Magical is Magic Fresh Carpet?

I’ve heard that smell is the strongest sense tied to memory and I believe it. A little whiff of my high school perfume takes me back in time. And what about the basics? Frasier fir is Christmas. Vanilla is a batch of my mom’s cookies. They don’t make scented candles for nothing! They conjure up something happy.
